Easy Christmas Crafts For Toddlers Age 2-3
1. Sparkly Snowflake Ornament Craft
Check out this glittery snowflake craft! It’s a cute and fun craft for kids, mainly because it’s so sparkly!
What You Will Need:
- Glossy paper decorations
- Washable red tempera paint
- Washable white glue
- Red glitter
- Blue glitter
- Acrylic Sealant
Setting up this ornament activity:
- Add even amounts of glue and paint to a shallow tray or cup.
- Add a paintbrush.
- Place those and the paper mache ornament on a tray. (You will need 1 for each child participating.)
How to do it:
- Invite your child to draw decorations with balls, covering as much as possible. Some may want to paint the whole ball, but others will probably paint half and call it good.
- When the kids finished painting the shiny ornament, I removed the paint/glue and paint and replaced them with a jar of glitter.
- Then they wiggle the glitter over the ornament for as long as they like.
- When they’re done, let them dry completely. Then spray some acrylic glue all over the decorative balls. Please do this in a well-ventilated place.

2. Alphabet Ornament
- Invite your child to color each decorative letter with watercolors, markers, or dots.
- They can then be hung in alphabetical order on the wall.
I hang these on the gift bags the children wrap their ornaments in.

3. Wood Photo Ornament
What you will need:
- Wooden ornament
- Assorted Christmas buttons
- Washable glitter tempera paint
- Glossy Mod Podge
- Photo of each child making the ornament
How to do it:
- The children painted both sides of the ornament, and I very lightly stuck their names on the edges of their ornaments, letting them dry completely.
- We got some fine motor going on by brushing glue on one side of the ornament. Then, they pressed the buttons anywhere they wanted on that same side.
- I glued the children’s photos to the side of the ornament that did not have the buttons.

4. Handprint Ornament
What You Need:
- Clear-colored glass ornaments

- Any small items you fill your decorations with
How to do it:
First, add decorations with handprints.
- Pour acrylic paint on your child’s hand and hold it over the ornament
- Make sure it is scorched before refilling.
- You can paint and fill in separate dates.
Then, add the pieces above to the garnish.
- Remove the top from the ornament so it can be filled.
- Place small items on paper plates (you can use any container).

5. Candy Cane Bead Craft
What you need:
- White or Red pipe cleaners
- Red and white tricolor beads (or pony beads if you prefer)
- wire cutters or scissors
How to make Christmas Crafts For Toddlers Age 2-3 the beaded candy cane ornament:
- Glue two pipe cleaners of the same color and space them apart so that each end is about 2 inches away from a hanger.
- Place a bead (the same color as your pipe cleaner) halfway up one two-inch end and fold the outside inch inward, so the two ends meet.
- Beads on pipe cleaner with a red/white pattern
- Once you have the desired length, cut one pipe cleaner right at the end of the last bead and miss the second pipe cleaner about half an inch from the previous bead.
- Then wrap the excess tightly around the pipe cleaner between the last and second to last bead.
- Roll the pipe cleaner into a candy cane shape, and you’re done!

6. Pom Pom Candy Cane Craft
What you will need:
- Red pom, many sizes are okay
- White pom, many sizes are okay
- Cardboard sheet
- Sharpie or black marker
- Scissors
- Craft glue
- Red Ribbon (or any festive ribbon)
How to Create Christmas Crafts For Toddlers Age 2-3 the Candy Cane
- Draw a candy cane on a piece of cardboard. As you draw lines for the red and white parts of the candy cane, label each section alternately as R&W. This will help guide even young children on recognizing letters, colors, and patterns.
- Cut the candy cane out of the cardboard.
- Place the red and white cotton balls in two separate bowls.
- Working with your child, squeeze the glue over each section and then let them stick to the cotton ball. You may want to help, not because they will need it. Only kids think that crafts are more fun when mom or dad makes them with them.
- Work your way up the candy cane until each section is filled with cotton balls, and the lollipop looks like a candy cane.
- Let the pom poms dry.
- Cut a piece of ribbon 5-6 inches long. Fold it in half.
- With craft glue or a hot glue gun (if you want quick results like me), secure the ribbon loop to the back of the candy cane to hang it up.

7. Fillable Keepsake Ornament
What you will need:
- Some transparent plastic ball ornaments.
- Along with a layered photo you took during class.
How We Set Up Decoration For This Toddler And Kindergarten
- Put all the materials in a tub all mix well. You can see wrinkled paper strips, jingle bells, Santa erasers, sequins, small gift boxes, and poms.
- After pressing a small photo of each child, write their name on the back of the picture along with the year.
- Because this one contains small pieces, you can invite the kids to take turns making their souvenir decorations.
- Give them half of their plastic ornament and ask them to pick out a few pieces to put in it.
- Santa’s erasers and miniature packs are the biggest hits.
- Then ask them to find their pressed photo. When they found their pictures, they included them with the pieces in the ornament.
- When they have finished filling in their decorations, you snap the other half in to make it complete.
- Then add some hot glue between the cracks, and tie some gold wire through the hole in the top of the ornament.

8. Winter Cork Paint Tree
What you will need:
- 8×10 blank canvas
- Acrylic Paint in the following colors: dark blue (navy blue would work fine), white, and brown (we used dark brown, but a lighter shade of brown could present a better contrast with dark blue).
- Foam paintbrushes; 3 (for the tree, background, and snow)
- 1 cork for the white snow.
- One paper plate
How to Make Christmas Crafts For Toddlers Age 2-3 the Winter Tree Cork Painting Craft!
- The painting for this craft has to be done in three phases so that each part dries. You can save time by painting the first stage the night before. There’s no right or wrong way to draw a background. Draw straight lines with blue paint. And your kids decided to pull the swirling sky. Painted straight lines of blue paint. And your kids decided to paint the sky swirly.
- Next up is the tree and snow on the ground. Doing this is quite simple. All you need to do is draw multiple branches. For the snow, you can swirl white paint in little circles or paint a snow drift that covers the tree, too (which is what my daughter did). Let the canvas dry. Note: If you make the snow cover the tree, paint it first and let it dry before painting the snow on the ground.
- Squeeze a small amount of acrylic paint of each color onto a sheet of paper (or another palette). I only use paper plates because it is readily available and cheap.
- Glue a cork to the jar of white paint and place the paint palette next to the canvas.
